We would like to invite you to an Information Evening at NightLite, click here  for more details but this invitation is open to anyone who would like to know more about how NightLite works within the night time economy alongside the venues, statutory agencies and members of the public out and about on a Saturday night. We look forward to meeting you ðŸ˜ƒ

March 2025
In the first 3 months of opening NightLite every Saturday night we have helped 78 guests in total, given out water, flip flops, blankets, cups of tea, snacks and sweets. 39 guests needed help with an immediate problem and 3 required urgent medical attention and we were able to support them and their friends while waiting for Ambulance to arrive.
If you think you would be able to help our guests in NightLite from 10pm to 3am one Saturday per month please look at the Volunteer page here and give us a call to try an Observation night soon.

February 2025

"Street Pastors are absolutely fundamental to the city centre on a Saturday night"  We were delighted to host BBC Radio Cambridgeshire last Saturday night. Honor Morgan produced a great feature that was played out during the morning and afternoon shows on Tuesday 4th February. You can listen to one of the interviews here on the breakfast show, starting at 1.13hrs if you listen on the BBC Sounds App. This also includes an interview with Hannah Hancock, Manager of Cambridge Business against Crime. She described us as "the beating heart of the city". If you want to listen to a live patrol then please listen here starting at 48m.
It really is worth listening as it describes what we do each week and will hopefully encourage more volunteers for Street Pastors and NightLite. Just click on the volunteer page to get in touch.

We received the following message of thanks this week:
"i want to say thank you to neat, michelle and pete in cambridge who helped me get home after i’d been out on new year’s eve. they were the kindest people i could’ve possibly met in a situation like that and without them i wouldn’t have been able to get home safely or find my friend."

We are delighted to receive such messages of gratefulness - it's why we do what we do every Saturday night in Cambridge.

The above photo was taken at our training with cpsl Mind, who provided a helpful interactive mental health presentation that was relevant to our work on the street patrol and in NightLite. As you can see we all enjoyed it and found the training very helpful for our personal lives too. Click here if you want to contact them   https://cpslmind.org.uk

December 2024
Christmas and New Year were extremely busy us. With two dates before Christmas and New Year's Eve we were able to help nearly 100 people. Working closely with St John Ambulance, cctv, police, taxi marshals and venue staff it highlighted how Cambridge is worthy of their Purple Flag status. For more information on Purple Flag - promoting a safe night out  - check out their website https://cambridgebid.co.uk/purpleflag

November 2024 on Halloween night, the city centre was extremely busy and Street Pastors were able to help a number of students get home safely.

November 2024 - Now the darker nights are with us, Street Pastors are available if people need assistance on their night out they are happy to help them and to make sure they stay safe while arranging to get home safely. If you need assistance on your night out call the patrol on 07394 074887 or speak to welfare staff at  any venue and they will contact us by radio.

19th October 2024 email received this week:
I was fortunate to come across the Cambridge street pastors on Saturday night, thankfully they were incredible and honestly helped my friend when she needed it the most. I could not be more grateful for their help and support that night and I want to thank you wholeheartedly.

Purple Flag Halloween, Safety Initiatives in Full Force
As Halloween weekend approaches, the city is preparing for well managed celebration under the Purple Flag status. On the night of October 26th, the streets of Cambridge will come alive with festivities, and thanks to a strong partnership between Cambridge BID, CAMBAC, and other key stakeholders, the city will have enhanced safety measures in place.
In a collaborative effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all revellers, Nightlite, Street Pastors, St John Ambulance, Taxi Marshals, Open Space Guardians, Green Stripe Taxis and CCTV Support will be working together along with our incredible nighttime venues throughout the evening, providing essential support to residents and visitors alike. This robust range of services will ensure that the city's night-time economy thrives while those visiting have the best experience possible.

September 2024
The AGM of Cambridge Street Pastors took place on Thursday 26th September 2024 at Downing Place United Reformed Church, Cambridge. We were delighted to welcome Superintendent Paul Rogerson as our guest speaker. He spoke about how the partnership working within Cambridge City Centre Night Time Economy is valuable and effective with the different organisations working together to make Cambridge a safer night time environment.

July 2024
Email received from a grateful Mum “Could you please pass on a huge thank you to two of your volunteers who supported my daughter in Cambridge town around 2am. Your volunteers cared for her and her friend until my husband arrived.
The support was amazing and we can’t thank them enough… to have ‘safe support’ on the streets, while young adults wish to socialise safely; is amazing!”
